Atlas was formed in 1972 in a small home off the Outer Loop in Louisville, KY. Over the years the Atlas Companies have expanded in size, location, product offering and services. This growth was fostered by founder JC Keith’s determination to build a company based on the principles of integrity, dependability, proactivity, excellence, and tenacity.
From our base business of supplying hollow metal doors and frames, Atlas has expanded to include a broad spectrum of products, backed by professional, courteous service. Atlas has built a reputation for providing the highest quality materials to the commercial industry. This has allowed us to “set the standard” to which other distributors in the market are compared.

In March of 1972, Atlas Metal Products Co., Inc. was formed in a small home off the Outer Loop. At this time, Atlas provided doors, frames, and hardware.

In 1979 Atlas expanded to a larger office with a warehouse. In addition to its expanded footprint, Atlas expanded its product offering to include specialties, casework, etc.

In 1991, Atlas grew once again, to provide better coverage to its Lexington area clients.

In 1997 Atlas celebrated 25 years in business with company activities throughout the year and a birthday bash on the farm!

In 2001 Atlas completed construction of their new headquarters in Commerce Crossings.

In 2005 Atlas expanded their services to include pre-installation of door hardware to speed the onsite installation process for clients.

In 2010 Atlas expanded on its preinstallation offering and began installation of its full product range.

In 2012 Atlas celebrated 40 years in business with an unforgettable event at Wildwood Country Club.
